What is geo-targeting in CloudFront?

Geo-targeting is a feature of Amazon CloudFront that allows users to deliver content to their users based on their geographic location. It enables users to customize their content delivery based on the country, state, or city of the user, providing a more personalized experience and improving the overall performance and security of their applications.

With CloudFront geo-targeting, users can create multiple cache behaviors, each with its own set of rules for routing traffic based on the user’s location. Users can create geo-targeting rules for both the origin server and the edge server, allowing them to tailor their content delivery to their users’ needs.

For example, a user in New York may experience slower load times when accessing content that is stored on a server located in Asia. With CloudFront geo-targeting, users can configure their application to automatically route requests from New York to a server located in North America, resulting in faster load times and a better user experience.

Geo-targeting in CloudFront also provides additional security benefits by allowing users to block traffic from certain geographic regions that may pose a security risk, such as regions known for high levels of cybercrime or hacking.
