Apps will be removed from Apple and Google store in America
Following the Commerce Department order, these two apps will be removed from the platform in the US. A senior commerce official told Reuters that Apple Inc.’s apps, Alphabet Inc.’s Google Play and others would be barred from offering apps on a platform that could be accessed from within the US. Officials said the order would not prevent US companies from doing business on WeChat outside the US.
Trying to bargain by bidding
Bydance is in talks with Oracle Corp and other companies to create a new company, Ticktock Global, which will aim to address US concerns over the security of its users’ data. Bydance will still need Trump’s approval to avoid the US ban.
Commerce officials said that they would not put a stop to technical transactions beyond Tiktok until 12 November. This will give the company additional time to see if Bydance can reach a deal on its US operations. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross stated that the basic TickTalk will remain the same until 12 November.
