Samsung is gearing up to sell 2 crore units of Galaxy M series smartphones by the end of December 2020. Samsung India senior vice president Asim Warsi in an interaction mentioned that the Galaxy M series phones that was first introduced in 2019 is one of popular Samsung phones in the budget and mid-range segment. The company has launched eight smartphones under the Galaxy M series and the Galaxy M series is the latest to be launched.
The Galaxy M series marked Samsung’s renewed focus on selling phones online-first in India. The company is also trying to pitch its online store in India.
“For Samsung, the Online Store (Samsung.com) is a key focus area for growth and we are targeting 10% of our overall business in mobiles and consumer electronics through this important channel,” said Warsi.
Talking about the growth of the online store, Warsi said, “Samsung.com, has seen rapid growth over the last few years, with overall website traffic on Samsung.com for 2020 expected to increase 1.4 times to 400 million and app base for Samsung Shop growing 10 times year-to-date versus 2019. With the launch of the new innovative programs, Samsung.com will become the shopping destination of choice for mobile and consumer electronics products across key consumer segments. ”
After the Galaxy M and A series, the company is now gearing up to launch the Galaxy F series in India. The new Galaxy F series will take on phones from Chinese brands in India in the Rs 20,000 market segment. The first phone in the Galaxy F series will arrive in India by the first week of October.
Like the Galaxy M series, the new F series will be mostly available online first and arriving at brick-and-mortar stores later.
Samsung will most likely continue to offer phones with Exynos processors under the F series, however, there will be some phones with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors as well.
